Te Anau marked the final leg of our journey — where the road curved south into Fiordland, and the mountains leaned gently over the lake. The water mirrored the sky so perfectly it was hard to tell where one ended and the other began. We stood at the edge in quiet awe, knowing the journey — and the whales’ — had come full circle.
